The first home basketball game was played in the gymnasium at 4:00 P.M. Score: North Dallas 22, Jesuit 20.
Basketball team in tournament sponsored by Forney High School. “Awarded a trophy for second place in the Consolation Round. A trifle inglorious, but still the first trophy won by the school.”

The baseball team was formed in response to requests by boys wanting to play. The opening baseball game vs Forest Avenue was played at Fair Park. In a six inning game Jesuit lost 11-0.

Basketball season opens against Buckner Orphans’ Home at Buckner; Buckner wins 39-12
Football programs cost 10 cents. The program cover shows an American flag, tanks, and battleships.

Ed Maher (first lay faculty member ‘42) gave the football team its nickname “Rangers”; he once lived in the city of Ranger, Texas and liked the town.
Veteran Paul Tyson, who has more Texas high school championships than any other coach, named head football, basketball, and baseball coach
Football Banquet The Dads' Club honors the football squads with a banquet at the school cafeteria. P.C. Cobb, Director of Athletics of Dallas schools, is the principal speaker.
Letters are awarded to 17 players and the student manager at the annual banquet for the football team in the school cafeteria with Mayor Woodall Rodgers serving as toastmaster.

Jesuit’s Rangers boarded a chartered airliner at Love Field for Rochester, N.Y. where they will meet Aquinas High in an intersectional schoolboy football game; 25 men made the trip. They lost the game 46-7.
Lancaster (Lank) Smith, former member of the Notre Dame Coaching staff, is selected as head coach succeeding Don Rossi.

Win Texas Catholic Interscholastic League State Championships in Football
Track becomes varsity sport.

Freddie Schaeffer makes the state aware of Jesuit by pacing the Rangers to the TCIL track title. The senior won 3 individual events, tied for 2nd in another, and anchored the winning sprint relay as Jesuit beat runner-up St. Thomas of Houston by a comfortable 20 points. All times will go as records as this is the first state track meet in TCIL history. It was Jesuit’s second state championship of the school year; the Rangers won the football title last Dec.
The victory gives the Rangers an overall record of 17 wins, 9 losses, including 3 straight triumphs in the state meet.
In its 4th year the team is rated tops for city competition.
